Zebra & Giraffe is a South Africa rock band. It is the name of a new force pressing itself into the hearts and minds of music fans – and even on first listen it’s clear that Z&G’s debut longplayer, ‘Collected Memories’, is every bit as unique as the animals that its named after.

Zebra & Giraffe started out as the solo project of Greg Carlin. In May 2008, Carlin released Z&G debut album "Collected Memories" and then formed a live band with members Alan Shenton, Rob Davidson, Darren Leader & Andrew Maskell.

Zebra & Giraffe is the name of a new force pressing itself into the hearts and minds of music fans – and even on the first listen it’s clear that Z&G’s debut longplayer, ‘Collected Memories’, is every bit as unique as the animals that its named after.
The cleverly named act began as the 12-lettered pseudonym of Johannesburg music wunderkind, Greg Carlin, but has now evolved into a 5 piece live band that have toured across South Africa, played alongside international acts such as Oasis and Snow Patrol, and picked up a SAMA award.

Since its release in May 2008, ‘Collected Memories’ has produced 6 hit singles – ‘The Knife’ (1 on college radio, 1 on 5FM Hi5@5, 1 on MK and Top 8 on 94.7 Highveld Stereo), ‘Arm Yourself’ (1 on college radio, Top 5 on 5FM, Top 10 on 94.7 Homebrew and 1 on MK), ‘Oxymoron’ (1 on college radio, Top 5 on 5FM and 1 on MK), ‘In My Eyes’ (1 on college radio, 1 on 5FM Hi5@5 and 1 on MK), ‘Running Faster’ (Top 20 on 5FM and playlisted on ECR & YFM) and ‘Fight! Fight! Fight!’ (1 on 5FM Hi5@5).

So far 2009 has seen Zebra & Giraffe play alongside Snow Patrol and Oasis at the Coke-a-Cola Zero Fest (April), nominated for Best New Act and Best Video at the MK Awards (March), release of one of South Africa’s first HD music videos for ‘Oxymoron’, as well as release a deluxe edition of ‘Collected Memories’ featuring music videos, behind the scenes footage and an exclusive new track.

Zebra & Giraffe was also nominated for 4 SA Music Awards (SAMAs) in the categories Best Newcomer, Best Rock, Best Album Packaging and MTN Record of the Year for “The Knife”. ‘Collected Memories’ took home the award for Best Rock Album.
