In the last few years, Rebecca has become known as South Africa's Queen of Gospel and has performed with her band Pure Magic both across South Africa and internationally.
She grew up in Nelspruit, South Africa, where she had to work on a tobacco farm with her sisters, taking the chance to sing whenever they could. She first entered the South African music scene through various unsuccessful trials in different nationwide talent shows, but eventually won the Best Female Vocalist in the Shell Road to Fame talent show. She has never looked back since then, winning numerous awards, such as the SAMAs and others, and recording 10 albums. In 1995 her CD 'Shwele Baba' sold more than 100,000 copies in three weeks and became the fastest selling platter in South African showbiz history.
Some favorites from the songstress include Ngegazi Lemvana, Uyingcwele, Answer my Prayers, Kholo Lwami, Uthando, Emadlelweni. She is also a guest on the Congolese gospel singer L'Or Lemba Mbongo's CD Nsimbulu.
